Thanks for the comment and the compliment. I am not sure how it wound up on Google News. I did list it on Google. You can add your own URL to Google and not wait for their spiders to find it. Google Google Help for Adding Your URL. :D

Always good to read about swimming, my ex was an olympic swimmer..

Can I ask though - how did you get this picked up and into google news?

Very impressive, is it something that is just up to Google or you actively created?

Obviously this is a popular blog with great data so well done on your seo success..

Er... Then, the only way would be to collect it in a *hole*, sunk into the ground, so it's not visible as an obvious "collector", such as a barrel. My "uncle in the village" (back in Poland) used to have a barrel under every spout -- one at each corner of the house. He did not collect into the well, though; that had a roof over it.

Is it true that, in US, the wells were flat to the ground? Sounds hare-brained and dangerous to me, but that's what I've been told

It's not just here, either. It is illegal to collect rainwater in countries where people can't afford to buy water (Bolivia, where mass protests took place and Bechtel, an American company sued for $32 million because of the whole mess - and lost, btw. YAY!)

It is disgusting what humans will do for a profit...at the expense and lives of others.

They have a philosophy that the rainwater belongs to all and if anyone collects it it is taking away from all others. -- MsJ, @6

No kidding? You can't set up a water barrel on your own property? How weird. Not that I'd want to, even for plant watering (wouldn't trust it to drink or even wash in any more. What's coming down from heavens now is not the same stuff it had been 50yrs ago). But standing water breeds mosquitoes something dreadful and we have enough of them as is.

Thanks, Cats. Washington State is actually in the process of revising their law. Colorado doesn't seem to be so inclined. They have a philosophy that the rainwater belongs to all and if anyone collects it it is taking away from all others.

It's much better to pay for bottled water (which is great for adding to landfills) which is probably filled in some guys bathtub somewhere in Pittsburgh (thanks Lewis Black for that one). And as we now have to pay more and more for the stuff, golly, now it's critical for us to drink eight glasses of the stuff a day. (Again, thanks to Mr. Black). Yeah, whatever.

Just screwing the population, one class at a time.

Hi MsJ - good post. I'll be linking your blog to mine. We all seem to have the same goals, just a different focus.

As for the laws in Colorado and Washington, the residents of those States should challenge them. I live on three acres and if I want to put out a rain barrel, I will do so.

The Republicans think that privatization will solve all problems. The only thing that privatizations does is fatten the wallets of these neocons. Thieves and robbers... everyone of them.
